In 2020, Marutamaya Co., Ltd. celebrates the 30th anniversary of our foundation.
Marutamaya company was founded in July 1990 by Kyosuke Ogatsu and Toshikatsu Ogatsu.
Today, our music fireworks (hanabi entertainment) show is the flagship of our business pursuing the charm and the traditional culture of Japanese fireworks.
Over the years, we have specialized in fireworks innovation, including the first music fireworks show in Japan, fireworks towers, stadium roof-top fireworks, zero emissions pyrotechnics, and digital fireworks called HANABIRIUM which can be enjoyed by anyone in the Planetarium.
We have also received the Good Design Award, and we were selected as one of the companies for the Cool Japan Project by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
Since we have founded Marutamaya Co., Ltd, we have been endlessly honing the new techniques and the direct of performances. There, we have a spirit of challenge and never give up.
As a result, all employees are united firmly to work together to pursue a charm of Japanese fireworks.
Marutamaya has taken the opportunity of our 30th anniversary to rededicate ourselves to the development of the company and our employees, and to our passion for innovation.
January 2021, Marutamaya Co., Ltd. changes its name to Nihonbashi Marutamaya.
As part of our plan to expand the future of the fireworks business, we have made the decision to change the name of the company.
In 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19, the economy in Japan and most other countries of the world slowed.
One of many unfortunate results has been the disappearance of beautiful fireworks from night skies. The future of fireworks is being questioned, resulting in the need to improve the way we operate.
Nihonbashi Marutamaya will thrive in the future by creating new ways to enjoy fireworks, while also holding true to the traditions of Japanese fireworks culture.
